We all know that video game piracy is illegal, but what about jail breaking your game console? Hacking, also known as modification, hacking, or home-brewing, is the process of modifying a game console to run unauthorized software. 

Most people associate jailbreaking with piracy because modern game consoles have firmware-level security checks that detect and block pirated software. However, while piracy involves stealing products you don't own, jailbreaking is okay because you do it yourself. right? Unfortunately. Jailbreaking a game console is illegal.

Why is it illegal to jailbreak?

It is completely lawful to change your gaming consoles as long as anything you truly do doesn't modify or alter the control center's firmware's code or dodge any safety efforts.
